My mom was Linda Hemenway who became good friends with her and would go to Sorellas all the time. I hope that my mom and her are enjoying a good breakfast in the other side, as she wrote on this site. My mom Linda Hemenway passed on July 11th 2019 and was an avid fan of Sorellas and her. They were good friends.

On this day, September 28, 2016, I just want to let you know that not one single day goes by without thoughts of you up behind the counter in the kitchen area of Sorella's Restaurant! Like I said before, every time I enjoy my breakfast, I think of you, seriously! I ate breakfast regularly at Sorella's and you always remembered to bring me that extra order of toast to finish my coffee with, even without me asking! One of these days, my friend, we will be together once again having breakfast in Heaven! Are you running the grill up there? I love you and miss hearing your voice on the phone!

Posted by Linda Hemenway - Edison, OH - Friend   September 27, 2016

Ellie, not a single day goes by that you are not in my thoughts & in my heart. I still can't believe that you are no longer on this Earth. Every morning I would eat breakfast at Sorrella's, your restaurant, and I always ordered that extra order of toast! You never forgot that either! Each time I would come in you would automatically bring me that extra order of toast! Now, when I eat my breakfast at home in Ohio, I think of you fondly! As I type this, my eyes are welling up with tears, because we didn't have a chance to get together again during your final days on this Earth. I miss you Ellie so much!

Dearest Ellie, I signed your guest book when I first heard of your passing, but I don't see my condolence message here. I just want you to know that I think of you so often, and so happy that you made that call to me to talk one last time, although then, I didn't realize that it was for the last time. It was just before you left all of us. I only wish that I had the opportunity to see you once more. Each time I eat breakfast food I think of you, since I ate up at Sorrella's every morning & always had that extra order of toast! If I forgot to order it, you would bring it to me anyway! You were/are a very special person and will forever be!

My heartfelt condolences to Eli's family and friends. Eli was a tremendous human being with a huge heart. She had the gift of quickly sizing up what a person would need to feel at home at Sorella's and placing it on the table with a loving flourish. Eli embraced my late husband Alan after a severe brain injury left him uncomfortable in most places. He called Sorella's "my favorite place to belong" and that was because of Eli. We both adored her. May Eli rest in the sweetest peace.

To my beautiful friend, Eleanor. Although I did not see you as much as I should have, you will always remain in my thoughts and prayers. Eleanor, we go back a long way to the South End days. My whole family considered you as one of us. When I think of our past friendship I think of the show Laverne and Shirley. That was us, together, having all kinds of fun. I am so sorry to the family and your children left behind. I am sure your spirit will always remain with them. You were such a wonderful mother. So sorry for all the pain you endured. You will always be in my heart. God bless you.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dear loved one. God's words at 1 Corinthians 15:26 says The last enemy death, is brought to nothing. God hates death. He has a yearning to end it. ( Isaiah 25:8) May God's words bring some comfort to you and your family. My prayers are with you and your family.

Ellie, I met you last October when Rhonda, Julie & I came to visit you. You were so funny and loving. We had pizza (which you didn't like) and antipasto. You had diet restrictions and you made us laugh all through the "pizza ordeal". Wonderful, wonderful mother to your beautiful twins. You had just bought Sophia her new baby doll (very life like) and she adored that gift and the timer went off and Zeppie ran and got your pills. We had a very good time that afternoon and Joey (as always) was there to tend to you. He made you a huge salad plate along with some pizza!!!!! You said "YUCK"!!!!! Your children have an unbelievable support
system between Joey and your family. I would like to Thank You for entertaining me ( a total stranger ). Your children will shine because of your love and Joey's love and care. Please lie down and sleep now, you fought the good fight. Forever Friends Ellie, Patty Bower
